Affectionately nicknamed “The Guild”, the Guild of Adventurers is the major breeding ground for all the Adventurers of the world. From child to adulthood, young men and women are molded into powerful and knowledgeable tools for society. Children from all walks of life are brought into The Guild to learn and while different societies may take liberties with certain points, there is a standard that all Guild authorized schools must follow.

The journey begins in the pre-guild known as The Academy of Adventurers (aka “The Academy”). The Academy teaches young children (usually around ages of five to seven) the basics such as how to read, write, spelling out what will be expected of them as Adventurers, and teaching them the basics of combat. The Academy is broken up usually into seven year progress, however truly exceptional students could jump the line to graduation. After graduation, you are now truly a member of The Guild.

The Guild is structured by a rank based system. Upon graduation from academy, an adventurer is given the earliest rank of F. From September to June the students progress through the curriculum which finalizes in an end of year exam which tests whether you can cut it out in the world. This puts you through several combat trials testing you both as an individual and as a team-player. While difficult, it’s far from impossible.

The style of fighting that a student learns is divided into Classes”. When a student begins in the academy they’re designated a temporary class known as simply “Melee” or “Caster,” however by the time you enroll into the Guild, you’re expected to know what you would like to carry yourself as. While this decision isn’t set in stone, it might as well be as changing it later is an extremely difficult decision. For example, if you started off as a Warrior and later decided you wanted to be a Blademancer, that wouldn’t be too much of a problem as both are melee and many core fundamentals would carry over. However if you wanted to go from a Warrior to a Magi, that could uproot your entire journey, damn near having you start from Rank F all over again. Such a drastic change requires retaking the previous rank’s combat training — many begrudgingly decide to stick with their class even if they’re unhappy.

Upon Rank A comes graduation, the student is considered a full fledged adventurer and an adult in the eyes of society (usually at around 17-18). While many go on to become adventurers, fighting monsters and performing quests in service to their city, many others burn out in their mid to late 20’s and settle into more “reasonable” jobs such security, construction, and public service. However despite the finality of Rank A, there is also three more rank that can be attained.

While the earlier ranks were more or less required for youths to participate in —— Ranks S, X, and also Z are prestige ranks that not just anyone can get. After graduation from The Guild if you want to continue your combat education you must become accepted and enrolled in a university. In addition to a fee that must be paid, the training in university is FAAAR more demanding and many fail out after a few months. The rank’s training is a year just like The Guild’s regiment and when the rank is achieved, more doors open up to the Adventurer.

Quests in geneal usually require legwork on behalf of the Adventurer to find, however the top paying jobs are usually magnetized towards Adventurers with these prestige ranks. Many quests that pay extremely well will require for the adventurers to be at the very least Rank S, and in addition, Rank Z is when the most prestigious and stable jobs open up such as teaching positions within The Guild of Adventurer’s establishments, bodyguarding service for VIPs, and etc.

Guild enrollment is mandatory for all youths with one notable exception; the “Disciple’s Exemption”. Guardians Rank A and above can opt to withhold their children from the Guild’s curriculum and teach them on their own in a home school fashion. This exception isn’t very common, however despite this, said disciple must still take the end of the year exam at a Guild authorized school to progress in rank.

While demanding and seemingly impossible at times to some youths, these guidelines have guided the sentient races for years on years.
